I
need your help!
From
my previous messages on our forum you know the progress
of my book.
To
summarize..
I have submitted 455 pages, dozens of Tony
Hurst color shots. I have only 30-40 pages left to
submit, 30 of those
done. In May I
was given 242 typeset pages to proof, which
I have
returned to Hove. They have the remaining 213 pages ready
for proofing. In May Hove was very optimistic that
September was a realistic target date! On June 17 Hove asked
for even more color shots.
On
July 6th, 4 days after mailing out the latest Journal stating
the probable arrival
date of September, I received an email. It
said, to the effect, 'BECAUSE OF THE HIGH VALUE OF
THE BRITISH POUND
HOVE HAD DECIDED TO DELAY THE BOOK UNTIL THE NEW YEAR!'
I
am trying to convince Hove:
- This
is a unique book, not another me-too Leica book
that the public is waiting for! It is all over
the net,
and in the
Journal, and collectors want it now!
- At
40 pounds ($80) it would sell. Would it flop at 50
Pounds ($100)? We pay
that for a lens cap!!!!!
I need
a 'grass roots up-swelling' from my friends! If Hove's
Ron Clark gets enough email from perspective buyers, who
do not want to wait, regardless of the price he might reconsider.
Please
do not email him in anger! Only concern
and disappointment! Give him the feeling the
book would be a success despite the strong pound. If
you feel you wish to send him 'polite' emails here are
his addresses.
