2010
(Jan 22, 2010) Stephen Gandy has good news for NHS members! Once upon a time Cosina Voigtlander produced a lineup of lenses for classic Nikon rangefinders, the SC 21/4, 25/4, 28/3.5, 35/2.5, 50/1.5, 50/2.5, and 85/3.5. Until today the CameraQuest prices for the 50/1.5 were $399, the 50/2.5 $319, and the 85/3.5 $385. On closeout special the 50/1.5 is now $249, the 50/2.5 $199 and the 85/3.5 $249. (Wednesday, October 7) Dr. Burton Rubin, died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern NY. He was 68. Burt was known for his wonderful articles in Shutterbug Magazine, and his love of Nikon equipment. Your webmaster knew him for many years, Burt was one of my mentors. He seemed to have seen everything Nikon ever made, and freely shared his knowledge with me. I will miss him.
(January) marks the final demise of the last classic collector camera store in New York City, World Trade Camera. WTC which was Andy Czegledi's successor to Wall Street Camera, never really took off, due to the financial impact of 9/11. Wall Street Camera was a source for literally thousands of major Nikon rangefinder items over the years. Andy and his wife Ruth will be missed. We wish them luck in any new endeavor. Other stores are just a weak shadow of WSC during its heyday.

(Nov 12 - Andy Murphy, NHS member) I just read Thom Hogan's 2009 predictions for camera companies, and one prediction regarding Nikon is that in 2009 ther will be "A limited edition Nikon: likely a D3 sensor in an SP-like camera, but a possibility of a D3 sensor in a Nikon F 50th anniversary body, potentially both.
- Likely a 10,000 copy run, mostly sold in Japan.
- Very high price, probably the highest-priced Nikon ever."
Thom's prediction file is at http://www.bythom.com/2009predictions.htm
(October) Dan Colucci's website, which went down when AOL stopped web hosting, is back up at www.antiquecameras.net. Dan maintains an incredible list of prices for collectible cameras, with a section on Nikon RF. Thanks Dan!
(July) The big news is the publication of issue 100 of the Journal, which contains complete coverage of the convention in Vancouver, including of course photos of everyone!
(Feb 19) Wes Loder's new book, The Nikon Camera in America 1946-1953 is shipping!
This is a "must have" book for those interested in a detailed account of the early years of Nikon history. A first quick scan tells me this is a very well researched book, which includes history you will not find anywhere else, it is well illustrated also with photographs unique to this book.
(Jan) Robert Rotoloni's New book is shipping,
NHS members report having received a copy! Visit the Nikon forum for more discussion and information about this important new book. Bob will be signing copies at the NHS convention!
